I just want to remind you that we have the best job in the world.
- High paying but anyone can do it.
- Works with society (not against it).
- Already in demand. Many parents already want their children to learn how to play the violin.
- Your job is scheduled. No need to make decisions about when or how your work is done. Just show up to the lesson.
- Very little shallow work overhead. Very simple to use the same administrative systems over and over for little to no shallow work.
- Infinite amount of depth– intellectual, physical, and social.
- “I am yours, don’t give myself back to me.” Rumi. Suzuki teacher requires us to be the noblest version of ourselves on a daily basis.
- We stand on the shoulders of giants.
I acknowledge that Suzuki teaching is lonely, economically challenging, and is limited by it’s western classical elitist underpinnings. But while we work through those challenges I can’t help but appreciate how beautiful this line of work can be, on a daily basis.
I feel so lucky.
